It’s no secret that a photoshoot can be fun and intimidating! Being prepared and feeling camera-ready can help you walk in to your shoot with confidence. These are my top tips for all my clients who’ve booked a boudoir photoshoot!
Drink a Lot of Water
Have a number in your head? You will likely need to drink even more than that! Don’t overdo it, and make yourself sick, of course. I’m talking about that good rule of 8(ish) glasses a day. Start this at least a week before your boudoir session. You want to be hydrated so you’re feeling your best able to streeeeetch into the poses with ease. Keep a water bottle with you all day to help you remember to sip, sip, sip. This also helps with making sure your skin is looking it’s best. Speaking of skin…
Exfoliate and Moisturize
I don’t recommend a super harsh scrub the day before your boudoir session but I can tell a difference when my client makes exfoliating a priority in the weeks and days leading up to their session. Sugar scrubs in the shower for your body and a gentle exfoliating face wash can go a long way! If you’re exfoliating, you’ll also need to moisturize. Moisturized skin looks best on camera for a glowy, supple look. An exfoliated and moisturized face is the perfect canvas for your makeup artist!
If you really want to treat yourself, go for a hydrating facial! They are life changing and so luxurious! What better excuse to treat yourself than getting prepped for a big photoshoot! My favorite places for facials are Bella Medspa, Practically Perfect Day Spa, Atlanta Beauty and Skincare!
Touch Up Your Hair
The week of your boudoir or branding photoshoot is the best time to get a hair touch up. Key words: Touch up. Don’t go ham and completely change up your look if that’s not your style. You want to look like yourself! If you get your hair colored, get a refresh. Your hair will be shiny and vibrant. Go for a trim, not a drastic cut. I’m all for chopping your hair off but not right before a photoshoot. More often than not, you’ll regret making such a big change before your big day. Keep your length for now and go for shorter after your session!
Also, always get a blowout. Trust me. You’ll feel like a million bucks.
My personal salon is The Hair Bar Woodstock. I can’t sing their praises enough!
When I have clients book in with me for a boudoir photoshoot, they get an extensive list on how to prepare but these 3 tips are probably the most important! If you’re trying to learn how to feel ready for a boudoir photoshoot but you’re feeling lost, reach out to me on social media or your chosen photographer for more information.
